Following the resolution of the World Convention of representatives of the Cambodian People of the inside of Cambodia and abroad held September 27, 1997 to Washington D.C. (USA),

We, founding members of the Khmer Unity Party, let's proclaim:

  1. The birth of the Khmer Unity Party of 23 October 1997 to Oh-Smach, small border city of the Cambodia-Tailande and historic symbol of the national Resistance.
  2. The adoption of the symbol of the Khmer Unity Party (KUP): PREAH BATH THORMMOEUK
  3. The adoption of the 27 political principles of basis essentially constituting the political program of the Party.
  4. The election of a Leading Committee of the composed Party provisionally of about thirty people. This Leading Committee is directed by:
  1. The nomination of Representatives of the Khmer Unity Party abroad, in particular in the different States to the United States of America, to Canada, in France and in Switzerland, etc.
  2. The Khmer Unity Party, liberal, democratic and nationalistic party is created just as the Nation and the Khmer people are crossing the darkest period of their history and are excessively facing the danger of imminent disappearance due to the vietnamisation of Cambodia by Vietnam.

    Answering to longings legal and legitimate of the Khmer people and basing itself on its 27 political principles of basis of its political program, the Khmer Unity Party has for historic mission of:

    1. To achieve to all price the national reconciliation of all Khmers while doing abstraction of their belief, of their political color or of spends them, etc. And to defend the politics of Sacred National union of our nation.
    2. To fight against the politics of aggression, annexation and genocide enterprise and pursued by Vietnam in opposition to the Nation and the Khmer people.
    3. To build our new khmer society where our Khmer people will be able to live in the real independence, the sovereignty, the complete territorial integrity, the peace, the liberal democracy, the liberty, the social justice and the prosperity.
