Representative Dana Rohrabacher,
House International Relations Committee
2338 Rayburn House Office Building,
Washington D. C., 20515
Dear Representative Rohrabacher :
On behalf of the Khmer Unity Party, we are requesting the United States government to review the policy towards the Hun Sen administration that is ruling a lawless country of Cambodia.
Per the Federal Bureau Investigation's report, Mr. Hun Sen's body guards were involved with the threwing grenades into the peaceful demonstration in front of the national assembly building in Phnom Penh on March 30, 1997. The grenades explosions killed and injured many people which included and American, Mr. Ron Abney. The killing and tortured of may royalist during the July 6-7, 1997 are still unsolved. Also, many journalists and opposition were killed for having different views from Mr. Hun Sen and his Communist political party, the Cambodian People's Party. The Hun Sen regime killed many demonstrators for questioning the result of the 1998 election. On october 6, 1999, a Parliament member, Lon Phon, was kidnapped for ransom. The spokeperson for the Interior Ministry informed the media that the police knew the identity of the kidnapper(s). The ministry paid money for the release of Mr. Lon Phon instead of arresting the kidnapper(s).
As you can see, the murders and kidnappers have not been taken into custody for their criminal actions. How can a democratic government like the United States government support a country that let criminals have their freedom for murders and kidnapping people.
We thank you and hope that you will continue to help end the suffering of the Cambodian people that are living under the oppressing regime
Sincerely,
Samnang Keo,
Assistant Secretary General of K.U.P.
